Troop 8 Committee Meeting

November 9, 2002

Meeting called to order at 8:15PM

Present: Jean Bergholz, Valerie Holmes, Steve Schafer, Bryant Beckman, Bill Whiston, Bruce Sellon, Larry Holmes, Kevin Griffin, Jerry Bohlmann, Stan Lukow, Mike Johnson, Wayne Janssen, Mark Danner, Robert Danner, Casey Beran, Dale Fries, Barry Stelk.

September Minutes: Steve Schafer moved and Mark Danner seconded to approve the minutes. Motion approved.

Financial Report: Valerie reported that 75% of the scouts have paid their dues. To date nine scouts have paid to reserve a spot for the 2004 trek to Philmont. The call in date was November 9 and there I still room for more scouts to join this group.

Vine Congregational Church On The Trail To Eagle Camporee: Mark Danner updated the committee on the activities planned for Sunday, October 13. In the event of inclement weather the tents that are planned to be set up in the vacant lot across from the church will be canceled.

Instead a "camp site" will be set up inside the church to show the members what a typical Troop 8 camp site looks like. There will be a table set up to display Troop 8 Eagle Scout project notebooks. Former Eagle Scouts are invited to bring their notebooks. An Order of the Arrow display table has been planned. Order of the Arrow members are encouraged to wear their sashes for the event. A computer will be set up to show the Troop 8 web site. A photo display will be mounted on the wall to show the members of Troop 8 from the photos taken by Joy Citta. Badge Counselor information will be provided to see if any church members would like to help Troop 8 with badge work. Scouts are encouraged to attend church service at Vine Congregational Sunday, October 13. The Troop 8 Court of Honor will be held at 1:30 PM following the morning event. There will be no meeting held October 14.

Popcorn Fundraiser: All money and card orders are due at the church on Sunday, October 21. Any scout turning in money or orders late will have 25% deducted from their profit toward their camping account. The $500 allotment of popcorn seemed sufficient for all scouts.

Fall Camporee: 22 scouts and 8 adults will attend the Fall Camporee to be held at Waverly, Nebraska at the Rock Creek Thresher Campgrounds. The scouts will complete the Railroading merit badge on this camporee.

November 8-9 Campout: This campout will not be held at Issac Walton as planned. An alternative camping experience will be planned.

Atikokan Camping: 30 scouts or adults are planning to participate in this canoeing event. There are still 3 spots left. The group will include 11 scouts from outside the troop as well as Troop 8 scouts.

Christmas Tree Fundraiser. Robert Danner and Casey Beran will be chairmen of this event.

Uniforms at Troop Meetings: All scouts must wear their Class A Boy Scout uniform to Troop 8 meetings.
